Milos

Milos is a volcanic Greek island in the Aegean Sea, north of the Cretan Sea. It is said that its name comes from the word “velos” which evolved into “apple” and meant “sheep”.

It has been inhabited since prehistoric times and has given significant mineral wealth: obsidian in prehistoric times, kaolin and pozzolans in historical times until recently and most recently bentonite, perlite. The capital of the island is Plaka.
